Citrus Research and Education Center
As director of scientific research, Dr. Dan King directs a team of researchers and scientists at the Citrus Research and Education Center in Lake Alfred. He oversees current FDOC research efforts which focus on exploring the health benefits of citrus; monitoring the quality, standards, and sources of commercial citrus products; improving current processes for efficient handling and production of citrus products; and providing research into current and longer term issues facing Florida citrus growers, packers and processors.
Prior to joining FDOC in 2007, King was director of technical services for the Florida Citrus Processors Association. His experience includes 10 years as a manager in citrus processing facilities and 12 years in academic teaching and research.
