As the director of domestic public relations, Karen Mathis is responsible for the development of public relations campaigns to generate increased awareness of the health and wellness benefits of Florida citrus. She oversees the execution of these programs through FDOC’s public relations agency and handles media relations and issues management.
Mathis has over two decades of experience in the food industry. Prior to joining FDOC, Mathis served as regional marketing director for Whole Foods Market in Florida. She has executed strategic marketing campaigns for national consumer packaged goods companies with a focus on health communications.
Mathis has a B.S. degree in home economics journalism from The Ohio State University. She is a certified home economist and accredited public relations professional and is actively involved in numerous professional and culinary organizations.
