Food Engineer
Dr. Filomena Valim has a B.S. in Food Engineering and a Ph.D. in Food Technology from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) in Brazil. She was a professor of Food Technology at Sao Paulo State University (UNESP) in Brazil for 12 years.
Her family moved to Florida in 2000 and she was a post-doctorate fellow at the Flavor Lab in the Citrus Research Center, University of Florida working with Dr. Russell Rouseff.
Dr. Valim joined the Florida Department of Citrus as a Research Scientist in April 2004. Her areas of research include citrus flavor (instrumental and sensory analysis), agricultural residue analysis and review of literature regarding health and wellness benefits of citrus consumption.
