Research Scientist
Dr. Murat Azik is a Research Scientist at the Florida Department of Citrus Scientific Research Department in Lake Alfred. He has been with the FDOC for eleven years.
His primary responsibilities fall under the monitoring program and include method development to determine the country of origin of orange juices and measurements and analysis of the nutritional elements and inorganic residues in citrus juices using ICP-MS (Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer).
Dr. Azik holds B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in chemistry from Hacettepe University in Turkey. In his academic and research career he worked as a post-doctoral and visiting research scientist at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA and served seven years in research and education as a professor at Hacettepe University. He attended several NATO Advanced Study Institutes on carbon chemistry and energy.
