Harvesting Research
The two-fold goal of harvesting research is to reduce the harvesting cost
and to increase labor productivity. Since 1995, the focus has been on two
areas:
• Developing and evaluating harvesting machine prototypes in conjunction
with the Citrus Harvesting Research Advisory Council
• Screening and testing abscission chemicals to assist in mechanical harvesting
FDOC is seeking an experimental use permit for the abscission chemical CNMP from EPA for use during the 2010-11 season.
